Mentors

Mentoring of our student is vital to their  success. Each research project we support is initiated by the creativity of our participants. For this reason we are always in need of college students, faculty members, teachers and professionals who are passionate about sharing their area of expertise with others, and about helping the youth understand and navigate the active world of STEM and how it is practiced in the field.

Our Young Innovators Quest and IDEAA Summer programs also provide many opportunities for volunteers. During the programs, we host guest speakers and workshop providers, and provide visits to research and engineering facilities to our participants.

Mentoring requirements and time commitments are flexible. They can vary from two hours a week to once a year. In some cases the mentoring and advising is done on-demand, remotely or as a one time consultation.

Besides mentoring our program participants, we sometimes get individual requests from parents or the community to pair their student with a particular mentor who can expand their knowledge in their field of interest.

Educational Content Developers

We are always in need of contributors who can create educational content that is motivating, engaging and focused on innovation while teaching new STEM concepts and skills to the youth. This is a great opportunity for those in the field of education to create a new learning experience and test it at one of our programs.

Research Support

  • Available space, for our students to work in, is one of the limitations we are faced with. Thus, we are in need of facilities that could host our students in order for them to meet on a regular basis and work on their projects. Facilities needed will depend on the nature of current projects, but in many cases we are in need of space set up like an laboratory classroom.
  • We are always in need of research  instruments, equipment and materials. We welcome outdated equipment that is still in working conditions.
  • Project Managers are needed to help with the execution of our projects. Volunteering in this capacity is a great opportunity for engineers and those studying engineering to develop their project management skills while making a contributions to their community.
  • Research Assistants are welcome to participate in any of our ongoing research projects. This is a great opportunity for students seeking research experience under the guidance of professionals.
  • Internships for our students at your company. Many of our participants are also searching for opportunities in the industry to serve as interns and learn new skills.
