Project Description

Mentors Needed in Area of Bioinformatics Crohn’s disease is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic damage to the intestines, and has no cure or proven causes. Our goal is to find the cause associated with different bacteria acting as the intestinal wall, then continue to investigate a protein that might inhibit these bacteria.  We  will search through databases to compile bacteria associated with the disease, and will use bioinformatics to narrow the data to useful information.  We expect, at a minimum, to help stimulate Crohn’s research by finding some important bacteria that cause the autoimmune reaction in Crohn’s patients.
